Anthony Darby is an interdisciplinary artist based in Orlando, Florida. His style is defined by contemporary art and minimal design. Through traditional and digital mediums, he produces work pertaining to people and places connected by symbolism. Working between illustration and design, Darby’s alternative approach toward his work is defined by the medium and the message.

In his Whelmed Faces collection, Darby adopts the Ancient Egyptian “twisted perspective” method to display his portrayed subjects. The use of symbolism is meant to provoke the mind in the portraiture’s relation to the symbol and their relevancy. The contemporary color approach in this series recycles between the object and the portrait to solidify the respective correlation. The iconified portraits chosen are meant to remind people of the influence one person and/or object can have on us.
